A precise study of the traditional part of Akihabara demonstrates the properties of diversity and the functional interlocking characteristic of an urban block. The project uses a block as an experimental field for the regeneration of the urban structure and the activation of its multi-functionality. Starting from the idea of the passage, inside organises the cohabitation of private and public functions around a interior public circulation, with a rich variety of thresholds. Offering hidden exhibition and communication facilities for otaku-orientated programs this project refers also refers to strategies of visibility in the urban context. |
